Nicholas K. - NYFW f/w 2011

ahhhhhh, the Nicholas K. show.
Unfortunately this show featured the first two model falls of fashion week, but trust me, after seeing the wonderful collection I almost forgot about the model spills. (note: I said "almost".)

The Nicholas K. fall/winter 2011 ready to wear collection was an interesting casual mix of grunge & luxurious boho (bohemian). I loved all the fur, the colorful plaid, the leather boots & jackets and the chunky, oversized knit sweaters. I could easily see myself wearing a few of the Nicholas K. pieces from her ready to wear collection.

Here are three of my favorite looks from the Nicholas K. RTW (ready to wear, for those fashion week newbies out there.) collection fall/winter 2011.

I am #INLOVE with this chunky oversized knit sweater, i adore the oatmeal color & i love how it looks with the gray pants and the brown distressed-leather boots. (oh, btw - thats the model who took the first spill and those boots were the culprit.)

I love this jacket, especially the unique shade of the fur, and how well it matches with the aviator sunglasses. If it were me, I would pair the jacket & the shades with jet black denim & knee high black boots.

black leather + black fur = YES PLEASE.

Okay, enough with the fashion - on to beauty. #NAILS

For Nicholas K's downtown chic RTW collection, Pattie Yankee created two custom Dashing Diva colors, a deep hunter green and a brown with gold flecks. In addition, Dashing Diva's "Remember My Name" and "Limo Service" were also worn by the models.

I'm a huge fan of dark nail polish & after this show I am going to need to pick myself up a bottle of Dashing Diva's "Remember My Name" - i love it. All in all, the Nicholas K. show was a success (if you don't count the falling models..) and I really enjoyed her RTW fall/winter collection.

The Red Dress Fashion Show - NYFW f/w 2011

It's that time of the year again. FASHION WEEK.
& me, of course I am going to be at New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011. #fact

The Red Dress Fashion Show at the theater at Lincoln Center on Wednesday February 9th kicked off Fall/Winter 2011 New York Fashion Week! The Red Dress fashion show is also known as the Heart Truth fashion show. This glamorous show brought a parade of celebrities, all in gorgeous red designer dresses, to the ruby-red runway in order to raise awareness for heart disease. Since red is one of my favorite colors, seeing all the lovely red dresses (all supporting a wonderful cause) was exactly where I wanted to be!

And, of course, I believe your nails are one of your most important accessories, so its obvious that I believe that the nails complete the outfit! This vital rule is also followed at New York Fashion Week! Backstage with Pattie Yankee for Dashing Diva nails I saw all the gorgeous polishes that the celebrities were sporting on the runway that evening.

Splurge vs. Steal : Accessories!

Hey girls ♥ So, as you learned in my previous entry, I am interning for Mr. Fabulous himself : Derek Warburton - AKA - Derek Loves Shopping! I absolutely love it and it is a really fun internship! Spending my days running around NYC pulling the hottest clothing & accessories from the best stores to showcase on TV segments or at events is really perfect for me! Two weeks ago, Derek & I focused on putting together outfits that showed the hottest summer trends. Last week we chose to explore every fashionista's biggest dilemma - Splurge vs. Steal!

We went shopping all over NYC, from TJmaxx to Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue, all in search of finding trendy accessories that can be greatly compared even though they are totally different in one way : one of them is a total splurge & the other is a huge steal!

Being a girl who loves fashion & all the hottest trends, it is very important to me to always know when its smart to splurge (usually only on classic items which will always be in style - for example: a gorgeous, perfect fitting little black dress!) and when it is smart to snag a steal (when buying trendy items that will come & go as the trends change. For example: fun neon yellow wedges!) Also, I absolutely loveeee finding things that look expensive for less! Even if I have the money to spend, the more I can save, the more I can buy! (and trust me, I love buying!)

Remember girls: Retail therapy is the cheapest type of therapy, if you can do it right ;)

Check out this example of a Splurge vs. Steal!
HOTLOVE Luxury Quality Sunglasses UV400 Lens Technology Gaga Style Celebrity Sunglasses P1863 Black , Light Weight frame Trendy Fashion Everyday Apparel for Women & Men VS. TOM FORD RAQUEL TF76 color B5 Sunglasses

The one on the left is from Amazon and they only cost $12.99 - HOTLOVE Luxury Quality Sunglasses UV400 Lens Technology Gaga Style Celebrity Sunglasses P1863 Black , Light Weight frame Trendy Fashion Everyday Apparel for Women & Men and the ones on the right are Tom Ford Sunglasses that cost $299.00 on Amazon TOM FORD RAQUEL TF76 color B5 Sunglasses but retail for $395.00 at Bloomingdales!

Derek & I found some amazing comparisons, so watch the video below & see if you can guess along and tell tell the splurges from the steals! (Also, watch the whole entire video to see also how to change a day look into a night look!!) Have fun & happy shopping :)

The Hottest Looks For Summer!

As you all know, I love fashion & I can walk through the mall for hours and just create outfit after outfit! That being said, my new internship with Derek Warburton, is right up my ally and I absolutely love it! This past week was my first week interning for Derek and the main focus this week was pulling outfits for his appearance today, Monday May 24th on a Philadelphia news station. On Dereks segment he would be showing outfits that showcase the latest spring and summer trends.

Here is a list of Derek's top 10 hot trends for this summer!
1. Colorific: Fabulous fuschia, bodacious blue and miraculous melon will be making you happy go lucky after a drab winter!
2. Sporty Spice: Don't be too quick to throw away those old gym shorts, sports wear is back in a big way! Replace your old leggings with some Nike lycra, throw on an oversized tunic and take off!
3. Country Cute: Country cute is the new city fabulous! Big skirts and daisy dukes are in!
4. Keep it clean! Crisp white classics are not only for the office anymore! White dresses and white button downs are here to stay for the summer!
5. Sheer Madness: Get out those sheer slips and camisoles because skin is in!
6. GI Jane: An army of glamazons will be on the streets this season, fabulous fatigues let you go to war with the summer heat in style!
7. Studs: Summer always brings out the cute guys, but these studs will be found on belts, bags and sandals!
8. Swirly twirly: Mixing and matching patterns is one of the most dangerous of trends, but if done right - it can be the most fun! Mixing patterns is very trendy right now!
9. Be-Jeweled: Summer is a stones throw away, so don't be shy to wear all your glamorous stones and jewels to add bling to your outfit!
10. Platforms: This season you will be reaching new heights!! Platform heels and platform wedges are essential!

Our task was to create 4 - 5 full outfits that showcase those trends and include more then one specific trend per look. It was a very fun task and we created some amazing outfits! Take a look for yourself :)

The first outfit here is mixes bright colors (colorific) a platform wedge shoe (platforms), has many embellishments and jewels (be-jewled) and is paired off with clean white shorts (crisp white). Personally, I love this outfit because is is bright and unique. Plus it mixes two of my favorite colors - pink & gold!

Next, we have outfit number 2, which is a crisp white dress (clean white), a long necklace with chains of silver, gold and pearls (mixing metals) and a bright colored, all purpose scarf (well wrapped).

Outfit number 3 focused mainly on our military trend. We have a dress in a fatigue pattern (GI jane), sports wear ( sporty spice) and a studded belt and bracelets (studs).

The 4th outfit was so adorable! It focused on the country cute look (country cute) with the denim crop-jacket and dress, had a few different patterns (mixed patterns) and featured a lot of jewelry, an oversize watch (be-jewled) and a studded clutch (studs).

The 5th an final outfit was a bright neon-yellow dress (colorific), a military inspired black blazer with gold studs (GI Jane & studs) and a wrist-ful of gold studded bangles (studs).

These are the 5 completed looks that Derek & I created for his appearance on the Philadelphia morning news. The segment went excellent and the outfits were a big hit :)

I hope you all enjoyed seeing these trendy looks and liked seeing what I do at my internship with Derek!
